Exosome Skin Therapy

The beauty and aesthetic industry is undergoing a transformation. Many people who are invested in looking after their skin are searching for alternative options to cosmetic injectables. Until a few years ago, they were the only way to achieve skin rejuvenation for anti-ageing, without having to undergo the knife.

Standard injectables do very little for someone with other skin concerns such as acne, pigmentation or rosacea and those, like most who simply wish to preserve a youthful contour.  It is just as valuable for a youthful aesthetic to achieve healthy glowing and youthful skin in preference to cheek and lip augmentation.

When training in the UK and Europe on regenerative medicine, I specifically studied the use of Exosome therapy,  a new regenerative force to both Medical Aesthetics and the Australian Market.

I am proud to be one of the first practitioners in Australia to offer exosome therapy for aesthetic use.  It is widely used now in America, Korea and the UK. The product I have in clinic is pure exosomes and delivers a skin rejuvenating focus including: 800 proteins 1000 peptides and 373 antioxidants and nutrients.

There have been several skin rejuvenation therapies burst onto the skin care scene which are popular and, as you are aware I have been a big supporter of Platelet Rich Plasma for some years, however the science now supports EXOSOMES as >30x stronger than PRP.

Here are some significant numbers:

  • When I use Exosomes during micro-needling collagen induction therapy and mesotherapy, about 7,000 Exosomes will fit onto the end of a single 33-guage needle.

  • One oscillation of my micro-needling cartridge can deliver 112,000 Exosomes into the skin.

  • If used at top speed of 120 rps, 13,440,000 Exosomes can potentially be delivered per second, with the potential for 806,400,000 Exosomes to be delivered per minute.

That’s a significant and highly relevant number of Exosomes with regeneration capability being dispersed deeply and proportionately into your skin.

With this method there is:

  • minimal risk of bruising at the injection site.

  • Fast recovery time so you can resume daily activities.

A much quicker application process—lunch-time appointments are doable

So what are Exosomes ?

Exosomes are the super charged by-product of cells. In simple terms, they are the bud-like component created when two cells fuse together. They are often described as microscopic bubbles or in the scientific realm as nano extracellular vesicles.

Eventually, the bud-like components break away from the fused cells, but these tiny molecules don’t fizzle away. They have an enormous role to play in skin and tissue rejuvenation.

An interesting fact about Exosomes is that although they’re not cells—which means they don’t have the ability to replicate and contain no human DNA, they are however important for tissue healing, signals, regeneration and repair.

Exosomes contain biomolecules including proteins, growth factors, lipids and nucleic acids such as messenger-RNA, (mRNA) and micro-RNA (miRNA). They act as messengers from stem cells to other cells. One way to imagine Exosomes at work is to think of them as little envelopes of regeneration from cell to cell. They are potent cell signalling agents

So what this boils down to is that Exosomes have enormous benefits for the skin! They have been shown to:

  • Be an next level form of skin rejuvenation for the face, neck and hands.

  • Significantly diminish the appearance of upper lip and smile lines, crow’s feet, and neck rings.

  • Reduce the appearance of pigmentation age spots and acne scars including skin depressions.

  • Address rosacea melasma and crepe like skin.

The Exosomes I have purchased are the youngest and purest source which ensures superior quality with no corruption. The products have been clinically shown to:

    • Send signals at a cellular level to boost the natural repair process for more youthful looking skin.

    • Maximise the potential of skin regeneration and minimally invasive.

    • Stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, the building blocks of skin.

    • Promote wound healing to minimise the appearance of scars.

    • Help reduce the appearance of many common concerns such as pigmentation, rosacea and alopecia, as well as ageing.

    • Provide solutions for multiple skin conditions or concerns (not limited to anti-ageing).

Regenerative Medicine in Aesthetics – different therapies

Stem Cell Therapy

Stem cell therapy for skin rejuvenation utilises human stem cells to help fill in tissue and create more collagen for better looking skin. The reason stem cells are used for this therapy is that they have the unique ability to transform from one cell type to another. They can replace and repair damaged cells. And as they grow and divide, they heal and rejuvenate.

There is an abundance of stem cells in fat tissue therefore the process often involves collecting stem cells from fat deposits. This is done via liposuction, in which case a local anaesthetic is required.

Stem cells can also be extracted from blood. Once the extraction is complete, the stem cells need to be isolated. This may be done offsite at a lab or via a centrifuge. The stem cells are mixed with a solution of growth hormones before they are injected into the skin. Multiple injections may be required to various areas for example the lips, chin or cheeks.  Some skin care specialists may be able to sculpt or contour for a specific finish. But this is a slow process and skin rejuvenation takes time.

While this therapy is certainly not surgery, if liposuction is involved, it may be considered VERY intrusive and not without risk.

The idea of stem cell therapy may sound good in theory but there is a school of thought that believes otherwise. Stem cell therapy is nothing more than a process of depositing fat to smooth out wrinkles by adding volume. Injected stem cells are also not TGA approved in Australia for aesthetic use.

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy

Platelet Rich Plasma or PRP is an effective skin rejuvenation technique for a youthful complexion. When combined with Microneedling it’s commonly referred to as the ‘vampire facial’ because it involves drawing blood and then smothering the skin or injecting with it. The process involves drawing blood from your arm, like I would do for a blood test.

Once drawn, a centrifuge spins the blood at high speeds to separate the PRP from the rest of the blood which is not needed and discarded. The PRP is highly concentrated, full of nutrients and growth factor proteins which are known to assist the skin to heal, particularly for wound healing.

When this skin rejuvenation trend was introduced, it was injected directly into skin of patients but it’s now common practice to do PRP therapy as part of a micro-needling rejuvenation treatment.

I use both and have for some years with impressive results and high patient satisfaction. By combining this therapy with micro-needling, the PRP is massaged into the skin immediately after needling. The micro-channels allow the PRP to be delivered into the deep layers for rejuvenation and healing.

The good news is skin rejuvenation therapy is evolving. The next level up from PRP is micro-needling and mesotherapy with Exosomes. And unlike PRP, Exosome therapy is suitable for all skin types, aesthetic conditions, skin tones and colours and does not require a blood draw.

So how do I apply your exosome concentration?

Micro-needling alone stimulates the skin’s natural healing process to produce impressive rejuvenation results. The micro-injuries signal the skin to go into repair mode. With the addition of potent serum containing the power of Exosomes, as well as spot mesotherapy for targeted areas, treatments are elevated beyond skin rejuvenation to regeneration.

Exosomes are a more concentrated and diverse source of growth factors when compared to stem cells.

The product I have available of pure exosomes deliver a skin rejuvenating focus and include 800 proteins, 1000 peptides, antioxidants and 373 lipids.

Please note : due to the new AHPRA guidelines I am also prohibited from posting before and after photos of treatments and procedures however am happy to discuss one on one in clinic.

I have also had to remove all of my most positive google reviews due to new regulations.
