Gut Friendly Green Smoothie
It’s that time of year which should be glorious however all kinds of indulgent meals, extra stress and more sugar than we are used to can really play havoc on out gut our skin our sleep and our levels of inflammation.
Today I want to share with you a very easy gut friendly recipe which will use a food as medicine approach to revitalise your gut health and improve detoxification.
Yoghurt offers beneficial bacteria to rebalance, polyphenols in the berries and pectin and inulin in the fruits help to promote your biodiversity. The broccoli and spinach support phase 1 and phase 2 liver detoxification. The spinach and chia provide fibre and help with efficient waste elimination. Avocado for fibre, healthy fat and skin health. The lemon pulp supports flavour as well as additional pectin for a healthy gut barrier and improve immunity.
You can have fun mixing in additional fruits and vegetables with different colours all adding in phytonutrients. If you are on a weight reduction plan go easy on the high glycemic summer fruits, berries and apples your friends.
1/2 Avocado
1 scoop Whole Body Collagen ( Designs for Health )..bovine or Plentiful protein, plant based with essential amino acids
1 serve of your prebiotic fibre as prescribed (refer to your treatment plan)
1 cup nut milk, coconut milk or coconut water or your preferred milk
1/2 cup ice
2 dessertspoons full fat unsweetened greek or coconut yoghurt
1/4 - 1/2 cup blueberries
1 cup spinach leaves ( packed )
1/2 cup broccoli sprouts or floweretes ( or a teaspoon organic Vital Greens )
1 teaspoon LSA mix linseed sesame almond ( optional )
1/2 apple or pear
1/2 banana ( if we are not working on a weight reduction plan)
sprinkle chia seeds, flax seeds or oil , or both
1/4 lemon with pulp but remove the skin.
